Aims and Scope

Cognitiva aims to publish high-quality research that applies intelligent computing to the problems of a changing planet. We value work that is original, methodologically sound and useful beyond its own field.

Aims

  • Advance the theory and practice of artificial intelligence and intelligent computing.

  • Encourage AI-driven solutions to global challenges such as climate, health, food, energy, water and disaster risk.

  • Connect computer scientists with researchers in engineering, the life sciences, the earth sciences, the social sciences and management.

  • Promote responsible, transparent and ethical use of AI.

Scope

The journal welcomes submissions in, but not limited to, the following areas.

Core intelligent computing

  • Machine learning, deep learning and reinforcement learning

  • Generative AI, large language models and foundation models

  • Natural language processing, computer vision and speech

  • Quantum computing and quantum AI

  • Explainable, trustworthy and responsible AI

  • Edge, cloud and high-performance computing for AI

  • Data science, big data analytics and knowledge engineering

Emerging and convergent technologies

  • Internet of Things, cyber-physical systems and digital twins

  • Robotics, autonomous systems and intelligent control

  • Blockchain and secure distributed systems

  • Cybersecurity and privacy-preserving AI

  • 5G/6G networks and intelligent communication

AI for planetary and societal problems

  • Climate modelling, environmental monitoring and sustainability

  • Smart agriculture and food security

  • Healthcare, medical imaging and bioinformatics

  • Smart energy, smart cities and intelligent transport

  • Water resources, disaster prediction and resilience

  • Education, finance, governance and social good

Article types

  • Original research articles — new findings supported by data, experiments or rigorous analysis.

  • Review articles — critical, systematic or state-of-the-art surveys of a topic within scope.

About the Journal

Cognitiva: Journal of Intelligent Computing & Emerging Technologies is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal. It publishes original research and reviews that use intelligent computing to address problems facing our planet and society.

The journal was founded on a simple idea. The hardest problems of our time, from climate and health to food, energy and water, do not respect disciplinary boundaries. Neither should the research that solves them. Cognitiva brings together computer scientists and domain researchers who apply artificial intelligence, deep learning, quantum AI and related technologies to real-world challenges.

Cognitiva is edited by Prof. (Dr.) Thipendra P. Singh, Professor and Pro Vice Chancellor, Chandigarh University, Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is supported by an international editorial board drawn from India, Malta, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Why publish with Cognitiva

  • No fees for authors. There is no article processing charge (APC) and no submission fee.

  • Free to read. Every article is free to read, download and share from the day it is published.

  • Rigorous double-blind peer review. Each manuscript is assessed by at least two independent experts.

  • Fast first decision. Authors receive a first decision within 30 days of submission.

  • Multidisciplinary reach. We welcome AI applications in any domain, not only computer science.

  • Ethical publishing. The journal follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

  • Permanent identifiers. Each article will receive a Crossref DOI.

Cognitiva publishes two issues a year, in June and December, in English. The first issue is planned for June 2027.
